  • The Soapbox

    The Soapbox is the only community-based studio in Philadelphia with a full letterpress and papermaking studio, alongside resources in screenprinting, relief printing, risograph, book binding and zine making. The have a (probably one-of-its-kind) zine and artist book library of over 3,500 titles. They offer workshops and training alongside access to equipment for independent projects.   • Second State Press

    Founded in 2010 and located in the Crane Arts Building, Second State Press is a nonprofit community printmaking studio providing a professional, affordable, and supportive workspace.

    SSP advances the growth of a sustainable printmaking community by offering professional facilities through membership, affordable communal workspace for emerging and mid-career artists, community arts programming and professional development opportunities.

  • Ulises

    Ulises is a bookshop and project space dedicated to artists’ books and independent art publications that explores the relationship between publics and publications. They provide an inventory of titles not widely distributed in the United States on contemporary art, graphic design, art theory, architecture, criticism, curatorial practice, and adjacent fields. We support people who make books and expand the boundaries of what art publishing can be.

  • Fleisher Art Memorial

    The oldest public art school, Fleisher has many courses that can help you become a better artist. From drawing to pottery, you can find your niche to explore and/or master. Meet some new people along the way! More to explore here!

  • Craft Coven

    Led by Cassie Jones, the Craft Coven brings together several different kinds of crafts so that you can work together to make everything from knitted projects to chain stitch masterpieces. Cassie is an excellent instructor, and has brought people together for years over threads and needle.

  • Butcher's Sew Shop

    If you want to know more about how to put together an outfit - from seam to seam - you can try out a class at Butcher’s Sew Shop. Get to know the sewing machine with some guidance! Find more on their site!

  • South Street Art Mart

    South Street Art Mart is an artist-run retail shop located on Philly's South Street. Art Mart is home to over 180 Philly-area artists and makers and all products are available in store and online; handpicked by shop co-owners and curators @NightOwlDesigns & @TapedOffTV. If you are looking for some Philly inspiration or trying to get on shelves, email them after visiting their site.

  • Mural Arts Philadelphia

    Mural Arts Philadelphia is the nation’s largest public art program, uniting artists and communities through a collaborative process, rooted in the traditions of mural-making They create art that transforms public spaces and individual lives, engaging communities in 50–100 public art projects each year.   • BOK

    Bok is a former technical high school, transforming the former classrooms and learning spaces into workspaces for Philadelphia makers, businesses, nonprofits, and artists. Using a “light touch” and leading with a community-first mindset, Bok aims to provide accessible workspace to small businesses looking to grow and test their ideas, as well as be a gathering space and resource center for the surrounding South Philly community and beyond. There are events going on all the time, so check out ways to meet mor artists or add to your collection of custom artisan goods!

  • Fireball Printing

    If you are looking for some affordable posters from a local printer, this is your spot. They also do Zine prining, and host various art shows, performances, and workshops. Their current project, WEIRDO: The East Kensington Arts and Oddities Festival, is an annual celebration of all that is art and WEIRD in Philadelphia. They focus on visionary and self-taught art along with other elements such as circus arts, experimental music and straight up bizarre acts like AWFUL Wrestling.   • Philm Club

    Philm Club is a website and newsletter run by South Philly Autonomous Cinema, a collectively-run organization screening leftist, queer, and rare films in South Philadelphia. They will update you with what is going on when it comes to cinema secrets in Philly. Whether it’s screenings, festivals, or special events, stay in the know with Philm Club. We highly recommend you join the newsletter. It is never spammy, just providing execent opportunties to stay in touch with the Philly Philm World.   • Collide Zine

    Collide Zine started in 2022 as a passion project, and has grown to become a community of artists and writers who join together monthly for open mics, happy hours, and artist showcases. The quarterly-printed zine features Philly-based artists of all kinds, is free to submit to, and provides creatives with the unique opportunity to collaborate with each other on a joint project or themed spread in the zine. Collide operates on the donations of their fans and community partners that share their vision of bringing poets and visual artists together through creative opportunities. Megazine works with Collide on events, and we highly recommend that poets should check out their events and submit their works! An open mic night can be a really empowering experience to express your art form amongst like minds.
