What is A MEGAZINE?

The concept for Megazine Philly was cooked up on a bench in a graveyard under a full moon. We were having a conversation about injustice, beauty, and finding a way to foster supportive and inclusive community. I don’t know about you, dear reader, but it feels like our world is in need of a bit of love. And where better to start than here, in Philly?

So, the thought was simple. We love Zines and we know plenty of you do too. They are in every nook and cranny if you go looking. And when we walk Philly, eat at magnificent eateries, go to Philly art fairs, expos, and showcases, there is so much to see. That’s why it’s time for a MEGA-ZINE that can show off a lot more about our life here in Philly. It is our community diary, scrapbook, showcase, map — it’s Mega.

Now, why do we think we need this masterful, mega, meta zine? Because. Our world grows smaller and more connected all the time, but we are arguably more isolated than ever. Phones and laptops draw us in, and that’s where we get stuck way too often. We want to create a location to bring together artists and the community again — a print location. It is a place that you can touch, and a map to create connections with Philadelphians across the city. We hope the pages we print will draw you out of the pages to find cool people, places to explore, histories to uncover, skills to develop, subjects to engage with, and many #goals to make your lives a little better.

Stay on the lookout for the Megazine Philly magazine (or is it just Zine?), and tell everyone you know about it. Donate if you can, too. We do this on a shoestring budget. All donations go directly towards funding the publication.

See you around!
